Notting Hill Roof Terrace

Our concept for this rooftop garden explores the idea of a series of external rooms, for a client who wanted a space with a dash of glamour. The design for each level of the garden responds to its unique level of enclosure, light and shade to create a different character.

Simple container planting creates enclosure and intimacy at the lower levels used to articulate space and create a visual focus. The upper levels offer expansive views of the skyline, and softer planting of hawthorns, field maples, grasses and perennials offer low ground cover and encourage insects and butterflies. 

Finishes, furnishings, and subtle lighting effects are all used to create richness and glamour.  Artefacts rich in personal history are distributed throughout the garden to create a meaningful and fascinating narrative for its owners.
