Family Garden, Holland Park

A sequence of calm, elegant spaces defines this hard-working family garden, attached to a listed Villa set within the Holland Park conservation area. Our client wanted a space that would work for children and adults alike, and encourage connection with nature.

Simple ornamental planting provides colour close to the house, and features borders planted with perennials and grasses for texture and movement. Planting transitions towards native species and a more tranquil, private garden to the rear. A cascading water feature is introduced to gently animate the space with sound and reflected light. Multi- stemmed trees create a sculptural effect and a greater sense of privacy throughout the garden.

Our client’s interest in referencing the history of Holland Park, once farmland, is reflected in the soft landscaping and a mix of hawthorns, field maples, elders and foraging plants.

A space that works for children and adults alike, encouraging connection with nature.
