Holland Park Courtyard
Architect: Rundell Associates
Photography: Marianne Majerus
The rear garden at this quietly elegant central London house provides a space for events and entertaining, and continues the language and tonal range of its interiors by James Plumb.
An exquisite materials palette is used to create a meticulous and richly detailed space. Stone, brass and wood combine to create a backdrop of warm greys, weathered surfaces or charred silken blacks. Pleached trees are used to delineate space and create intimacy whilst maximising the walkable floor area for events.
The courtyard offered the opportunity for a commissioned piece of external artwork. We collaborated with artist Tom Price to develop brass tree grilles which are both functional and beautiful. Downlit at night, they showcase craftsmanship and materiality.
