New natural habitats help safeguarding the landscape for future generations.

Our client wanted to create a more harmonious connection between the house, garden and wider landscape, which included a large of plot of land bought by the previous owners.
Our approach was to integrate old and new, creating a cohesive, flowing relationship between built and natural elements that appeared to have evolve over time. We retained existing trees and the meadow expanse, and explored scale and perspective to combine far-reaching views and colour, texture, materiality that also gave more detailed visual interest.
Rear terraces are rationalised and simply finished with gravel. The main borders to the north and south of the lawn are expanded to include bold drifts of colourful perennials flowing from the house towards the lake. Ornamental grasses shimmer in the breeze to offer movement and animation.
The project helps safeguard the landscape for future generations, extending and creating natural habitats and, in a future phase of the masterplan, creating new woodland.
